Director’s Message

During the 1980’s thermal imaging was a relatively obscure technology. After completing my Certified Infrared Thermographer® training course in 1984, I would often find myself having to explain to others what thermography was along with its benefits. Thermography rarely appeared in the mass media and I can recall the excitement amongst thermographers on the rare occasions when it did.

Times certainly have changed and the awareness of thermal imaging is now mainstream. Video from an airborne thermal imager taken during this month’s capture of the Boston Marathon bombing suspect has gone viral and shown the world just one of the many applications for thermal imaging. Like my fellow thermographers, I am proud to be associated with such a useful technology.
On behalf on Infraspection Institute, I want to thank all law enforcement and emergency personnel who were involved in the events following the bombing. I invite all of our readers to pray for those who help to keep us safe each day and especially for those who suffered injuries and loss this past month.
