Director’s Message

With its longer days, warmer temperatures, and trees in full foliage, May is one of my favorite months.

For many in the United States, the Memorial Day holiday at the end of the month marks the unofficial start of Summer. While the long weekend is the perfect opportunity for travel and cookouts, its origin and significance are far more profound.
Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. While the origin of the holiday is unclear, it is important that its true intention is never lost.

Wherever your travels may take you this holiday, please take a moment to reflect upon those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country and say a prayer for them and their families.

IR Inspections for Weatherization Added to Distance Learning

Infraspection Institute has added the course, Infrared Inspections for Weatherization Professionals to its Distance Learning program. Originally offered exclusively as an open enrollment course, the online version is a 14 hour theory and application course for the use of thermal imaging as a diagnostic tool for use in the weatherization of building envelopes.
Infrared Inspections for Weatherization Professionals provides in-depth instruction for thermographically detecting hidden problems in building sidewalls, roofs, HVAC ducts, and related building subsystems. The course covers infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, equipment operation and selection, using a thermal imager in conjunction with a blower door, standards compliance, image analysis, tools for confirming infrared data, and report generation.?

Students are trained to identify and document thermal patterns caused by improper design, workmanship or material failure. Self directed learning activities are provided to help the student gain practical experience; however, one need not have a camera to successfully complete the course. Course tuition includes 24 hour access to all online course presentations, Student Reference Manual, online quizzes, self-directed field assignments, proof of course completion, and free ground shipping of course materials to the continental US.
