Description
The Infraspection Institute Certified Infrared Thermographer® Exam is a written exam offered to students who successfully complete an Infraspection Level I, II, or III training course. CIT exams may be taken at no charge at the end of any West Windsor, NJ open enrollment course or at our annual IR/INFO Conference. For a fee, exams may be taken via video conference link by appointment with one of our instructors. Exams are not available by mail.
Infraspection certification is issued to students achieving an exam score of 80% or higher. There are no additional requirements following the completion of an exam and, once issued, Infraspection certification does not expire.

What is the exam format?
Exams are open book, open notes, and follow a multiple-choice answer format. Minimum passing grade is 80%.
How much time is allowed for an exam?
A three hour window of opportunity is allocated for each exam; however, many students require far less time.
How many questions are on an exam?
The number of exam questions for each training level are as follows: Level I: 66; Level II: 60; Level III: 55
What material are exam questions based upon?
Exam questions are derived from the material for each subject course including PowerPoint presentations, live demonstrations or videos, and the Student Reference Manual provided with each course.
How are online exams delivered?
Exams are delivered via a secure video link. You will need a computer with internet access, webcam, and audio capabilities. Such features are found on most modern computers. Exams are proctored live by an Infraspection instructor.
When are video conference exams held?
Video conference exams are held on Wednesdays at 10 am, New York Time. Alternate times are offered for international students.
What is the cost for a video conference exam?
There is a one-time fee of $350 USD for either Level I, II, or III exams.
How do I schedule an exam?
Video conference exams may be scheduled and paid for by clicking on the purchase option above. Those seeking to take an exam at our IR/INFO Conference or at an open enrollment course should contact our office via telephone at 609-239-4788 prior to appearing for an exam.
When will I be notified of my grade?
Exam scores are usually available immediately upon exam completion. If desired, your instructor will advise you of your score and review any questions you may have.
What happens if I fail an exam?
Failed exams may be re-taken once at no charge. Your instructor will advise you of your options for retaking an exam.
